Greg "Sam" Kersulis is a former high school participant of our
sponsor, FIRST Team #1444 "Lightning Lancers."  He
currently serves as mentor for both teams in the 2013-2014
season.  His participation in robotics during high school
inspired his desire for precision machining.  Now in his
second year at Southwestern Illinois College, he will graduate
spring 2014 with an Associate of Applied Science Degree in
Precision Machining Technology.

In addition to full-time college and robotics mentoring, Greg is
also employed part-time at Ehrhardt Tool and Machine in
Granite City, Illinois.  In the past he has also worked full-time
during summers for Clayco/Concrete Strategies in St. Louis,
Missouri, and Trost Plastics in Waterloo, Illinois.  In the past
year Greg obtained Level 1 Certification from the National
Institute for Metalworking Skills, Inc. (NIMS), CNC Machinist
Certification, and MasterCam Certification.

Greg took Second Place in Precision Machining Technology
at the Illinois Association of Skills USA in 2013.  While at
SWIC, he has consistently been on the Dean's Academic
Honors List.  He is the 2013 top scholarship recipient of the
National Tool and Machining Association (NTMA) St. Louis
Chapter.  He has also received the John N. Belcoff Memorial
Tamburitzan Scholarship, Gene Haas Foundation
Scholarship, Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME)
Scholarship, and Callis Family Vocational Scholarship.
Greg is planning to obtain a bachelor's degree in Industrial
Technology through the Southern Illinois
University-Carbondale Capstone Program beginning fall 2014.
Greg's hobbies include playing guitar, attending bible study,
watching anime, writing poetry, and playing with his English
Springer Spaniel "Sarah."
